For the Studio Portraits section of the Photography module. This photo features Kira facing away from a single softbox light, in front of an illuminated white background. The photo was slightly over-exposed so this was corrected in Photoshop.

Seb
For the Digital Portfolio, one of the photography themes that I have picked was studio portraits. This photo shows Sebastien posing in the studio. Using a single light and a low camera angle, it gives the impression of scale and intimidation. I removed the background lights and ceiling using Adobe Photoshop.
Rope
Aboard the HMS Warrior were several bundles and coils of thick rope, used for rigging or docking the ship at a port. A close-up photo like this allows the fine details of the rope to be appreciated where otherwise they might be overlooked – for example, how each strand is made up of many more smaller strands, all woven together. This photo was also taken using an iPhone camera, and I’m quite impressed at the clarity and level of detail.
This photo was taken on the recent photography trip to Portsmouth, UK, however I am using it for the task requiring a photo edited using masks, blends and channel manipulation. Using a background layer, I enhanced the red of the wrappers using the RGB layers tool, before creating a duplicate grayscale layer. Then, using the mask feature, I removed portions of the layer to allow the colours to show through.
Boat
This image was taken in Portsmouth, UK. It is a close-up of the hull of an upturned rowing boat – clearly painted blue at one point, but now scratched and discoloured from years of seawater and hauling the boat along the sand and concrete to where it is kept. There is a lot of detail in the scratches, with every small section of the hull being unique. Even though it was taken with just an iPhone camera, I am really pleased with the detail and colours. I also like the way that you can’t tell what the photo is of – until the explanation, it is just an interesting pattern.
