This image was created in Photoshop using multiple long-exposure shots. The differing opacities creates a sense of depth and makes the image more interesting to look at. I tried to change the colours of some of the light trails but in the end decided the effect detracted from the overall image.

Plasma
This image is a close-up photo of a plasma lamp. The fast-moving strands and contrast between the dark background and the bright foreground presented a challenge to set up the camera correctly. However, I think the image is captured well, and the only editing that I had to do was increase the saturation and RGB colour levels using Photoshop. This image is part of the Selected Exposure group for the EE1803 Digital Media Portfolio task.
Three
This photo is for the Selected Exposure category. I removed the front and rear lights from my bike, and with a five-second exposure, a friend waved them around in front of the camera. The effect was impressive, and I have edited the white light to appear green in Photoshop. Because of the long exposure, I had to use a tripod.

Mausum
This is some work from the EE1704 Creativity module. In pairs, we had to find out about each other and then create a brand identity and logo for our partner. Mausum described how, amongst other things, she was a big fan of action movies and in particular the Marvel brand. I chose to focus on this topic as I had a fairly clear idea what I could produce for my final outcome, shown above. Created in InDesign from the Adobe Suite, it uses the recognisable Marvel logo and replaces the text with Mausum’s name. I also added Captain America’s shield, and an abstract background to complete the image.
Boat
This image was taken in Portsmouth, UK. It is a close-up of the hull of an upturned rowing boat – clearly painted blue at one point, but now scratched and discoloured from years of seawater and hauling the boat along the sand and concrete to where it is kept. There is a lot of detail in the scratches, with every small section of the hull being unique. Even though it was taken with just an iPhone camera, I am really pleased with the detail and colours. I also like the way that you can’t tell what the photo is of – until the explanation, it is just an interesting pattern.
Urban
This photo was taken in Westminster Underground Station, London. The staircases, escalators and columns create interesting diagonals and perspective. Visually, the photo is complicated and there is lots going on, this is compensated for by the bland, grey-white colours of the metal and concrete. It sometimes takes a few seconds to understand actually what the photo is of, which is a feature I like.
